                        History of the Department

• Undergraduate Courses in the discipline of Science were introduced in the year1962.
• Post Graduate course in Zoology was introduced in the year 1991-92 to cater to the demanding requirements of higher education for women.
• Eleven of our retired staff were Ph,D degree holders.
• The faculty have published papers in National and International journals
• The faculty members have been resource persons for various conferences,

seminars.

• The faculty are members of examination committees in Constituent , Autonomous and affiliated colleges.
• Five of our faculty members served as Principals,Vice-Principals and PG Directors of this institution.
• Four of our faculty members Dr.Amtul Aziz , Dr Priyadarshini Kapadia,

 Dr M.Jaya Devi and Dr G.Y.Bharghavi were proud receipients of state Best teacher Award.

• The department has well equipped laboratories . The department of Zoology has well-established and fully equipped Sericulture lab.
• The Department has one of the best museum with its rich and varied collection of specimens. Specimens of Reptiles, Birds and Mammals were collected from the Nehru Zoological park of Hyderabad on request. The stuffed vertebrate animal specimens were prepared with the help of curator of Salar Jung Museum Hyderabad.
• Four of our retired faculty were research supervisors and a total of approximately 8 scholars were awarded Ph.D degree by Osmania university.
