Sarojini Naidu Vanita Maha Vidyalaya established Department of Nutrition and Dietetics in the academic year 2021-2022 initiated by Dr. Vasundhara Ayyagari, Head, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. The two year post-graduate programme in Nutrition and Dietetics is evolved for the students to grow as Nutritionists/Dietitians, Clinical Nutritionists, Research Associates in scientific bodies like CFTRI, ICMR, ICAR, NIN and above all an overall development as a person. The course offers an exclusive 15-days Clinical Internship/ Field exposure with an objective to develop and enhance research oriented skills. The Thesis/Dissertation work planned for the students of PG final year students is directed towards augmenting the skills with respect to Nutrition Screening, Nutritional Assessment and Analysis of the collected data. Overall, the department paves the path to success with a prospective to shape future academicians, researchers and scientists whilst yielding an award of M.Sc. Degree.

VISION

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (M.Sc.) serves regional and local communities through discovery of the ways in which foods and their bioactive components contribute to health and their role in prevention of diseases through effective application of nutrition knowledge towards the improvements in human health and for their well-being.                                         

MISSION

The Mission of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics (M.Sc.) is to better human health by:

• Contributing to the fundamental knowledge of how nutrients and food components function at cellular, systematic and whole body levels and impact human health and disease,
• Delivering innovative, research-based interventions and service programs which alter meal patterns and food choices with the goal of improved health of individuals, families, and communities,
• Contributing to the knowledge-base of nutrition post graduate students through high quality teaching, training, and research mentorship, and
• Providing service to professional, governmental, and local community organizations.
