HISTORY

NATIONAL CADET CORPS the esteme organisation of the country has become the part of our institution sarojini naidu vanita maha vidyalaya since 1965 on allotment of company by the NCC Directorate Andhra Pradesh & Telangana with an initial strength of 50 cadets along with the cadets of Girls Polytechnic under the control of a caretaker which was further improved with a new company of our own with a minimum strength of 100  and reached upto full company with a strength of 160 cadets. Miss Meera Prem M.Sc was sent for the initial Pre commissioned training at Kamptee. From then NCC emerged as a full fledged company in our institution under the guidance of  Maj N.Supriya since 2003.

The NCC of India came into existence in July, 1948 by an Act of the Parliament XXXI of 1948 designated the NCC Act with an initial strength of 38,305 cadets and today this prestigious and premier organization has today this prestigious and premier organization has 1.3 million cadets on it rolls spread from the outlaying Andamans in the Bay of Bengal and Lakshadweep in the Arabian sea to the remote regions of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh in Himalayas

The NCC organization is inspiring the Cadets to participate in campaigns to educate the public about social evils viz. Dowry, drug addiction, corruption, castism, regionalism etc., With regard to involvement in disasters by the nature, cadets have shown their performance in protection human sufferings, adopting temporary relief measures, removal of causalities, loss of property and also in maintaining sanitation to prevent pollution.

MOTTO:

            The Motto of the NCC “UNITY AND DISCIPLINE” was adopted on 23^rd December 1957.

AIMS:

1. To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and the ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country.
2. To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always available for the service of the nation.
3. To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

Main Events:

NCC Day: It is celebrated on the 4^th Sunday of the month of November.  After five decades of rendering yeomen service to the nation in training the nation’s future leaders, the NCC is celebrating its 54^th anniversary on 24^th November 2002.

Republic Day Camp (RDC):  The Camp is held every year in the month of January from 05 Jan at Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt.  During the camp, the cadets participate in the Republic Day Parade and the Prime Minister’s Rally.

Independence Day Camp (IDC): NCC cadets participate in celebrating Independence Day at state level with pomp and gaiety.

TRAINING:

 The NCC imparts two broad types of basic training i.e., Institutional and Camp training.

The aim of this training is to expose the youth to a regimental way of life to inculcate in them the values of discipline, dutifulness, personality, orderliness and smartness.  It covers subjects like drill, weapon training, civil defence, community development leadership qualities, first aid, gliding, powered flying, boat pulling, sailing etc.

Camp training constitutes the most important part of the NCC training.  In camps, young cadets get the thrill and joy of outdoors and community living.  Besides, All India Camps such as National Integration, Leadership, Nau Sainik, Vayu Sainik, Army Attachment, Republic Day and Independence Day Camps in which cadets from all parts of the country work together and contribute greatly towards promoting national integration.

NCC in Clean and Green Programme:

Every NCC Troop in the respective Institution took as a challenge in maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings and developing the sanitary conditions and to maintain Greenery, tree plantation has been adopted by the NCC Cadets at Institution level and where ever if necessary.  For this purpose every third Saturday of the month is declared as clean and green Day by the State Government.  In the month of August, 2003 the Cadets of 1(A) Girls BN assisted the C.M.  in planting “one million plantation  a day” programme.

NCC in Pulse polio Programme:

Though it is a Central Government Programme to prevent Polio among 0 to 5-year age group children the state government has taken it as a challenge and took the assistance of NCC to enlighten the seriousness about Polio, among the parents of non-vaccinated children.  Thus it has successfully completed in three phases by achieving 100% vaccination in this State with the Co-ordination of NCC till 2005.

NCC in ‘Neeru’ Meeru Programme:

           So as to improve the ground water level in the state, the Government has pleaded the Public, several social service organizations in the State and NCC to take the steps to fight against drinking water problem and drought by deepening tanks and water logging areas in the villages and by constructing water dry pits at institutions level.  As such NCC Cadets have done excellent job in this regard.  There were rallies conducted and the local population

Was educated in rainwater harvesting.  

NCC in Blood Donation:

It is a routine task of NCC during combined annual training camps in this State, that many Cadets have donated the blood for preservation in blood banks and save the patients.

NCC in form of ‘Human Chain’:

With the vested interest in support of the Government programmes to curb social evils like dowry system, child labour, illiteracy, drug addiction, educating women, corruption etc. have been extensively supported by the NCC Cadets and convey their messages by way of ‘form of human chain’ at public junctions along with other students which enlightened, the public awareness in the above fields.

NCC in Traffic Control:

Recently the NCC has extended its services to the Police Department in A.P. in maintaining the Traffic control and peace during Elections.  Though it is a risk-taking job, Cadets have considered it as challenge in Social Service. Not only during elections but also during ATC’s an endeavor is made to impart traffic training to the cadets.

NCC in Health and Hygiene Programme:

The State Government of A.P. has received massive help from the NCC in maintaining health and hygiene in flood affected areas.  The recent epidemic like Aids, Cholera and Brain fever are profoundly prevented by the state Govt. by awakening the public by way of conducting ‘rallies’ on public roads with the help of Cadets of NCC and other student population.

Conclusion:

And the first and foremost task before the NCC is to fight against internal and cross border terrorism which dislocates goals and targets of the Nation.  To speak frankly the NCC is ONE
